The 15th National Games (referred to as the "15th Games") will be held from 9 to 21 November 2025. Jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, this marks the first time in history that a single event will be staged across three regions, symbolising closer collaboration and enhanced connectivity within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The opening ceremony will be held in Guangzhou on 9 November, while the closing ceremony will take place in Shenzhen on 21 November.
Beyond co-hosting the event, Hong Kong will also stage several key competitions (such as fencing, rugby sevens, and triathlon), alongside cross-border road cycling and marathon events, truly uniting spectators across the three regions! Regarding team highlights, Hong Kong has consistently delivered strong performances in fencing, swimming, table tennis, and cycling over the past few years, making this edition particularly worth attending!
Whether you're staying in Hong Kong or heading to Guangdong or Macau for the thrilling events, you'll need to know the basics – which competition zone to go to, how to get there, and whether to take the MTR or drive. Below, we break it down zone by zone, starting with the closest and working outwards: Hong Kong, Macau, and the Mainland. We've included transport suggestions and tips for driving in Hong Kong. Whether you're bringing the whole family, heading out with your partner, or gathering a few mates to cheer on Team Hong Kong, you can get there smoothly, conveniently, and with ease!
【Hong Kong Venues】Stay local for the action – convenient and lively
No need to cross the border, and the most convenient way to cheer on Team Hong Kong live. This year, multiple medal prospects are concentrated in events like fencing and cycling, where the atmosphere is absolutely electric!
Main venues: Kai Tak Sports Park, Hong Kong Coliseum (Hung Hom), Hong Kong Velodrome (Tseung Kwan O), Victoria Park, Central Harbourfront/Victoria Harbour, etc.
Key events include: Track Cycling (13–17/11), Fencing (15–20/11), Triathlon (15–16/11), Men's U22 Basketball (10–20/11), Rugby Sevens (12–14/11)
Transportation:
- Public transport is most direct: most venues are near MTR stations or trunk bus routes; however, parking spaces around venues are limited. We recommend using Park-and-Ride facilities or parking near shopping centres and walking.
- Couples/families driving: Convenient for luggage, supplies, and pushchairs, particularly advantageous in wet weather.
Driving Tips:
Secure parking early: Monitor underground and shopping centre car parks in West Kowloon/Hung Hom; utilise local parking apps (e.g., HK e-meter) to check availability.

Traffic Diversions: Temporary road closures are commonplace during the tournament. According to the Government Gazette, rolling temporary traffic controls will be implemented on North Lantau Highway, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, and adjacent roads during Hong Kong matches. Travel times to the airport via these routes may increase by over 30 minutes. Therefore, it is advisable to check traffic conditions before setting off.
【Macau Venues】Relaxed spectating at its finest
Main Venues: Macau East Asian Games Stadium (Taipa), Venetian Macau Arena, (Olympic) Swimming Pool, etc.
Key Events: Table Tennis (7-20/11), Volleyball (Women's Senior) (7-19/11), etc.

Transportation:
- Dense bus network: Covers Taipa, Cotai to Macau Peninsula, passing all sports venues; most convenient using Macau Pass (or cash with small change ready)
- Light Rail (Taipa Line): Connecting the airport, Cotai hotel district, and East Asian Games area, offering convenient shuttle services to venues and hotels.
- Driving a private car: Like Hong Kong, Macau drives on the left. However, roads are narrow and winding, with numerous one-way streets and roundabouts. Speed limits are low (typically 30–60 km/h in urban areas), and electronic monitoring is prevalent.
Driving Tips:
Border Crossing & Procedures: When entering Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, ensure you have all necessary documentation for "Hong Kong vehicles entering Macau" quotas/reservations and insurance.
Parking strategy: Street parking in Taipa/Cotai is scarce and turnover is rapid; opt for large shopping mall car parks (e.g., Venetian, Galaxy, Parisian) and walk to venues. Arrive early for any event to be on the safe side.
Traffic Diversions: According to the Hong Kong Government News Bulletin, temporary traffic control measures will be implemented on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge in both eastbound and westbound directions before 12:30 pm on 8 November (eastbound from 9:00 am; westbound from 7:00 am). Therefore, whether travelling by shuttle bus or private vehicle, spectators crossing from Hong Kong to Macau or vice versa should avoid this period to prevent delays in reaching the venue.
Mainland Venues: Northbound Matches Boast Most Vibrant Atmosphere
Major Cities: Various cities in Guangdong Province
Key Events: Men's Under-20 Football (12/11, Shenzhen), Women's Senior Football (15/11, Foshan), Diving (2-11/11, Guangzhou), Marathon (15/11, Shenzhen + Hong Kong), Tennis (9-20/11, Zhuhai), etc.

Transportation conditions:
Dense high-speed rail/intercity rail network: Key corridors including Guangzhou-Shenzhen, Guangzhou-Zhuhai, and Shenzhen-Dongguan provide direct access to most core cities (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Huizhou, etc.) within 1–2 hours.
Well-established metro networks: Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan and others boast extensive metro coverage. Combined with intercity rail, the "high-speed rail to city centre, metro to venue" approach is most time-efficient.
Extensive motorway network: Pearl River Delta cities are connected by ring and radial motorways, featuring frequent service areas and convenient supplies; during holidays, departing early or travelling off-peak is most reliable.
Driving Tips:
Border Crossings: Departing from Hong Kong, utilise Shenzhen Bay, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, or Huanggang ports. After completing "Hong Kong Vehicle Northbound" procedures, proceed directly onto expressways then connect to local urban expressways.
Driving Rules and Enforcement: Keep right. Strict speed limits apply in urban areas, school zones, and tunnels with dense electronic monitoring. Pay attention to navigation speed alerts and high-risk violation zones.
New Energy Vehicle Travel: The Pearl River Delta boasts high charging station density, with service areas and urban hubs universally equipped. Plan charging stops in advance to avoid peak queues. Hong Kong electric vehicles require adaptors for mainland charging.
With route planning complete, many readers ask: how can such a large-scale cross-city sporting event ensure timely commencement and smooth dispersal? Ultimately, beyond our individual travel plans, a reliable official transport fleet must underpin the operation – athletes must arrive punctually, as must referees, media, guests, and volunteers. If the fleet is stable, your spectator experience will be seamless.
GAC × the 15th National Games: Official Designated Vehicle, Mission Fulfilment
GAC is precisely fulfilling this stabilising role at the 15th National Games, transforming "mobility" into an invisible yet ever-present foundation. As the sole automotive partner and official vehicle provider for both the 15th National Games and Paralympic Special Olympics, GAC has delivered a fleet of right-hand drive vehicles to the Hong Kong and Macau competition zones. This includes new energy MPVs like the GAC E9 and the HYPTEC HT intelligent electric SUV, backed by 24/7 operational support to ensure seamless transportation, logistics, and VIP hospitality throughout the event.

Ultimately, the event demands stability, and travel requires smoothness. If you're planning to head north or cross over to Macau for the games, why not embark on a "scenario-based" test drive to personally experience the stable chassis of the 15th National Games vehicles? Depart from any GAC test drive centre across Hong Kong and navigate onto Central's main thoroughfares. Test the seat support, chassis damping and quietness; then take it onto expressways for an inter-city simulation, experiencing its cruising refinement and driver assistance; finally, head into a shopping mall car park to see how nimble it is at tight turns and automated parking!
Simply explain your daily scenarios to your nearest GAC Experience Centre—be it heading north for a match, visiting relatives across cities, or urban commuting plus family outings—and our specialists will design a test drive route tailored to your real-world usage. They'll systematically compare key aspects like safety, space, range, and ease of parking.

One test drive will reveal why the 15th National Games can sound its horn precisely on schedule, and why it serves as your 'mobile power stabiliser'—whether on the racetrack or in everyday life.
