AlON UT Makes Overseas Debut, Accelerating New Energy Trends in Southeast Asia

On June 24, GAC INTERNATIONAL hosted a grand launch event for the AION UT in Bangkok,Thailand. Drawing widespread attention, the AION UT was unveiled in two range variants—STANDARD and PREMIUM, delivering a stylish, high-tech, and high-quality electric mobility experience tailored to Thailand’s young consumers and urban commuters. This exciting event marked not only a thrilling milestone but also a significant step forward in GAC INTERNATIONAL's continued deployment of NEVs across Southeast Asia.

Wei Haigang, President of GAC INTERNATIONAL; Li Yong,  Chairman and General Manager of GAC Business; Liu Quanlei, Chairman of The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Thailand for Chinese-Funded Enterprises;  Wang Ke, General Manager of UPower Energy; Wang Shunsheng, Vice President of GAC INTERNATIONAL, joined hands with over 300 guests, including leaders of Thai government and business leaders, dealer partners, and media representatives to witness this historic occasion.

At this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show, GAC INTERNATIONAL achieved a historic breakthrough, ranking second among all NEV brands and third across all brands in order volume. During the pre-sale period at the motor show, the AION UT attracted over 4,500 orders, becoming a phenomenon in Thailand’s EV market. Under the theme “It’s Ur Time, Let’s Play,” the launch event created an immersive experience featuring colorful, playful, and lifestyle-inspired design elements. Light shows and energetic dance performances set the stage as the AION UT made a stunning entrance at center stage, becoming the highlight of the night.

At the launch event, Wang Haoyong, General Manager of GAC INTERNATIONAL Thailand Sales Company, stated: “We are actively implementing the “One GAC 2.0” global strategy. The launch of the AION UT marks a new milestone and further deepens our ‘Thailand Action’ through comprehensive deployment across products, smart manufacturing, channels, services, and ecosystems.” He further noted that GAC INTERNATIONAL is accelerating its transformation from “product globalization” to “ecosystem globalization”, aiming to deliver more high-quality and cost-effective NEV options to global consumers.

The launch event started from the product highlights and deeply analyzed the outstanding performance of AION UT. 

The entire launch event was lively and vibrant, with interactive livestream zones and creative photo installations sparking enthusiasm among guests to capture and share their experiences. Every attendee became an enthusiastic advocates for the AION UT.Liu Qingxin, Vice General Manager of GAC INTERNATIONAL Thailand Sales Company, announced news on product upgrades, prompting cheers from the audience.

Mr. Liu emphasized: “To express our gratitude to Thai consumers for their supports, we have implemented several thoughtful upgrades to the AION UT, including a significant increase in driving range, comprehensive enhancements to the anti-pinch system, and improved rear seat comfort, delivering a superior, convenient and more comfortable driving experience.”

Renowned Thai designer TIKKYWOW made a special appearance to share his exclusive inspiration behind the collaboration with AION UT. This exciting crossover introduced a series of creative items, including custom car decals and trendy gifts, allowing Thai consumers to fully experience the unique charm of avant-garde design through the stylish fusion of AION UT × TIKKYWOW.

Looking ahead, GAC INTERNATIONAL will fully advance the “Thailand Action” under its “One GAC 2.0” strategy. From January to May 2025, sales increase by 214% year-on-year, ranking second in Thailand’s EV market. The company plans to introduce new models annually. The localization rate at the Thai plant has reached 51%, with local production of the AION UT model to begin within the year. The service network is expanding towards the 2025 goal of 80 dealerships, all of them meet the GAC Sales Service Way (GSSW) five-star standard. The energy replenishment ecosystem includes 58 charging stations and the launch of a dedicated mobility service center. A talent base established through industry-academia collaboration is also helping to build a new energy workforce in Thailand. GAC INTERNATIONAL remains committed to long-termism and deep localization, working with global partners to promote the prosperity of the NEV industry and accelerate the future of green mobility.
