2025-10-14

H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, led a delegation in a meeting with representatives from GAC INTERNATIONAL in Beijing. The delegation included H.E. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana's Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Kojo Bonsu, Ghana's Ambassador to China. Wei Haigang, President of GAC INTERNATIONAL, and Wang Shunsheng, Vice President of GAC INTERNATIONAL—along with other members of the company's core management team—attended the meeting. The two sides focused on the topic of the new energy vehicle industry, exchanging views on key directions such as localized production layout, integration of resource advantages, and implementation of policy guarantees, injecting new momentum into practical cooperation between China and Ghana.

Strategic Alignment: GAC and Ghana Jointly Blueprint a New Chapter of NEV Cooperation in West Africa

At the beginning of the meeting, President Mahama extended a welcome to Wei Haigang and his delegation on their visit. Wei Haigang expressed his gratitude for the President's reception, and stated that, as a crucial economic hub in West Africa, Ghana serves as an important strategic pivot for GAC's "One GAC 2.0" globalization strategy.

The Ghanaian side also expressed a positive stance towards cooperation with GAC. During the meeting, President Mahama extended an invitation, welcoming GAC INTERNATIONAL to arrange a professional team to conduct an on-site visit in Ghana at the earliest convenience. President Mahama emphasized that the on-site visit would enable GAC to gain a comprehensive understanding of Ghana's local industrial environment, resource distribution, market demands, and policy support details. This would facilitate the formulation of more practical implementation plans for the cooperation projects, advancing the partnership from "strategic consensus" to "concrete actions".

Furthermore, President Mahama specifically highlighted the electric vehicle sector during the meeting, clearly expressing expectations for higher-level collaboration. He invited GAC INTERNATIONAL to invest in Ghana and accelerate project implementation, introducing the entire EV industrial chain resources to Ghana to support Ghana's development vision of becoming the "West African Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Hub".

This is highly aligned with GAC's established strategy, as GAC regards Ghana as an "important strategic pivot" for its African strategy and global layout. GAC's technological advantages in the NEV sector, along with its mature operational experience in past Knock-Down (KD) projects, will also benefit the NEV industry cooperation in Ghana and the wider West African region, driving the partnership from initial engagement to deep synergy.

Focus on Core Topics: Government-Enterprise Collaboration to Build a Full Industry Chain Ecosystem Cooperation Blueprint

During this meeting, the two sides focused on exchanging views on the following areas:

Localized Production System Construction: The Ghanaian side expressed its desire to establish an efficient partnership with GAC INTERNATIONAL to accelerate the implementation of collaboration. In response, GAC INTERNATIONAL positively acknowledged the proposal, stating that it will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the feasibility of launching KD assembly projects in Ghana, explore and advance localized production. This initiative aims to better align with the market demands of Ghana and West Africa, reduce costs, and boost the development of local industries.

Collaborative Development of the Industrial Chain: During the meeting, Wei Haigang, President of GAC INTERNATIONAL, stated that GAC will always adhere to the philosophy of "Service First, Customer First" when entering the Ghanaian market. Beyond the sales system, GAC INTERNATIONAL will consistently uphold the model of integrated global expansion across the entire industrial and ecosystem chains. GAC is committed to implementing its localized initiative of "In Ghana, For Ghana, Integrating into Ghana, Contributing to Ghana" to achieve in-depth localized integration and long-term development.

Meeting Between GAC and the Ghanaian Delegation

The meeting marks a significant result for GAC in implementing the "One GAC 2.0" globalization strategy. It also marks another milestone in GAC's advancement of practical cooperation across the African continent, following the deepened cooperation with Egypt in June 2025. Moving forward, GAC will continue to provide African consumers with higher-quality and better mobility experiences.
